Types Of Twistss

The yarns are mostly subjected to two kinds of twists. These are:

Real Twists : All-natural fibres generally have real twists. In this, a single stand is kept between two clamped rollers which are then allowed to twist to enhance the natural characteristics and increase the strength. The twists are either made in the S direction i.e. anticlockwise or in the Z direction i.e. clockwise.

False Twists : Synthetic fibres are twisted through this technique. The yarn is stretched and clamps are fixed somewhere on the yarns. With one end fixed, the other end is twisted subsequently through the clamps. By a certain number of twists, the synthetic fibres get the durability and strength making it suitable for stitching and hand knitting. The process is quite complex and involves a lot of intricacies.

Twisting is extremely beneficial when it comes to maintaining the quality of yarns and achieve the desired outputs. At the same time, it does not mean that only high twisted yarns are durable. The excessive number of twists lead to a decrease in the strength of the fabric. Thus the quality expert should always keep a check on the functioning of the machine to eliminate the faults.
