Carding is a process of individualising and parallelising the fibre to remove impurities and shorter fibres. Carding process uses a lot of dividing and re-dividing fibre clumps that causes the fibres to lie in a parallel manner. This helps remove the impurities that may have remained after washing. In the process of carding, fibres are made to run through wire-like teeth which helps separating and parallelising the fibres and also in removing any remaining impurities and shorter fibres. Once the fibre is through with the Carding process it comes out as a continuous, thick, and untwisted long strand called Sliver. The sliver is then combed to get thinner fabrics.
